You will eventually need to battle the pirate ship in order to hijack them. Once you defeat the crew the ship is yours and you can travel around and eventually get to Ambrosia via a whirlpool
How do I pass a locked door?
You can buy keys from the thieves guild in various towns.

Type “o” select a character then type, search, bribe or dig to use other commands
Where the hell is Dawn?
Dawn appears when the moons are full. 0,0. From the castle its 8 paces west and 34 south.
What do gems do?
Gems allow you to see a map and you current location. They can be purchased from the thieves guild.
What do powders do?
Powders can negate time. They can be purchased from the thieves guild.

Which patches should I install to avoid all the bugs?
The last official patch was 1.18f but I recommend you install also the unofficial 1.19f patch which, is rumored to have been released by a developer from the original project.
